People who find their way here are usually trying to figure something out in their career. What to do next, whether to stay or go, what’s not feeling right, or how to make the next move. Managing our careers isn’t easy! And nobody teaches us how to do it. But if you’ve got stuck, don’t know where to start, or you’re going round in circles, that’s where I come in.
Wherever you are in your career and whatever you’re wrestling with, my job is to coach and guide you to work things out and find your way through, so that you can get moving again. I’ll work with you one-on-one to access fresh insights and perspectives on what you’re thinking about. Things that shift the stuckness, open up ways forward, and make it easier to see and act on where you want to go.
You’ll walk away feeling lighter, clearer, more intentional, and better equipped to take the next step.
Hi. I’m Helen. I work with people on their careers - online and in person - from my home in Godalming.
I'm a qualified careers professional, using skills and approaches from career guidance, career counselling, and coaching. I draw on whatever’s most useful to lead sessions that shift things and bring about progress, in a way that feels right for you.
I’ve had a varied career and I've navigated my fair share of change, wrong turns, and ‘what now?’ moments along the way. So you’ll be working with someone who is properly trained and who understands it from the inside.
Sessions are relaxed, conversational, and designed for you. There's no fixed programme or set agenda. We start where you are, work on what feels most useful, and draw the map as we go.
I'll ask questions, listen carefully, and reflect things back in ways that help you see more clearly. Sometimes that’s so you can hear yourself think. Sometimes it’s to help you dig deeper. It tends to feel less like a formal career coaching session and more like a really good conversation that leaves you with more clarity.
"I feel like I've made really good progress with my journey towards better understanding what I need and want in my career and next steps. It's been so positive and really helpful sitting down and discussing these things with you so thank you so much for that.”
"Our sessions have been really helpful to create a bit of space away from the frantic search for a job. I now have a framework and a viewpoint about what I'm looking for, so feel way less lost than I did before."
I've been working on a career niggle with a couple of clients this week. Here's what I think career niggles are, why they stick around, and how we put them to bed.
Getting stuck or stalled on one thought happens quite a lot in careers. When it’s groundhog day in your head and it starts to drive you a bit mad.
