What working together actually looks like

How it works

The personal and practical bits of career coaching sessions

There’s no state of readiness you need to be in to make a start. If you’re feeling clueless, clueless is where we begin. If you’re stuck with something specific, we’ll start there. If you’ve got a persistent niggle, we’ll explore it. You don’t need to have it all clear in your mind before you arrive. Us working things out together is the point.

We start wherever you are

Bespoke support

Useful, informal conversations

I believe career coaching should be designed to fit you, so I don't use fixed programmes. One size doesn’t fit all - at least, not well.

Once I know what you're working on and what's getting in the way, I'll suggest where and how we could start and what’s likely to help. Each session we’ll check in on what feels most useful to work on, and allow it to flex and evolve as we go.

In our sessions we'll go back and forth - talking, listening, and shaping the thinking together until the way forward becomes clear.

Tangents and half-thoughts are welcome - that’s often where the good stuff lives! I'll take care of the structure and keep us on track.

We often laugh, it's relaxed, and clients usually find it just feels like a really useful conversation.

Come as you are

Privacy and confidentiality

Our careers don’t happen in a vacuum. They’re influenced by nature, nurture, the structures we live in, and the experiences we have - in education, in work, and in daily life. It's complex - bring it all with you.

We’re also messy humans. I value the authenticity in that and it's an important part of our work. So as best we can, let's be ourselves, show up however we are on the day, and get to work.

I work under the CDI’s Code of Ethics. I take online meetings privately and keep the content confidential. I would only break confidentiality if I was concerned about someone’s safety, or was required to disclose information by law.

The practical stuff

We’ll start with a free introductory chat (20-25 minutes), to explore what you're trying to make progress with and how career coaching with me could help.

Ask whatever you need to and I'll do the same. By the end we should both have a sense of our fit, and a rough idea of what our work together would look like.

Afterwards, I'll write up and share a summary of what we discussed so you can mull it over. If we're both happy to go ahead, you can book a coaching session from there.

we start with a chat

Book sessions one at a time, pay as you go, and stop whenever you've got what you need. There's no fixed programme or minimum commitment.

Most clients have 2-5 sessions, some have more. I can usually tell which it'll be following our initial chat.

How frequently we meet depends on what we’re doing and what's practical for you. At the end of each session we’ll talk about whether another one would be useful, what we’d focus on, and when.

flexibility - no minimum commitment

  • Online coaching sessions cost £70 for around 50 minutes (allow an hour). Current fees, for 2026.

  • I keep two reduced-rate spots (£50) for clients who have a low income and little to fall back on.

  • Written summary notes of sessions are available for an additional fee if you'd like them.

  • I price detailed document review (like CVs) separately.

  • Pay by bank transfer after each session, within 7 days.

  • Book sessions via Calendly. You can reschedule or cancel there too.

  • I offer weekday and evening coaching slots. If you need a weekend session, just ask.

  • By default we’ll meet by video call, using Google Meet. Let me know if you’d prefer a phone call.

  • I'm based in Godalming, Surrey. I'm happy to meet in person if it's practical. There's a small additional cost for in-person sessions.

Booking and logistics

“I appreciated your patient approach, and the way you were careful to suggest lines of enquiry without pushing your own interpretation or opinions. This also meant allowing me time to follow and express my own train of thought, even when it was incoherent! I found your way of reflecting back on our conversation and picking out themes and ideas effective and insightful.”

I am starting a new job next Tuesday. Things are getting better and better and I feel like I am a different person from a couple months ago. It was a relatively short process since I sent my CV out to get an offer letter but all the consultations I had with you helped me to have very clear views of what I wanted to do and what I was looking for. Thank you very much.
